End of an era.

Well I suppose it was time. This evening [livejournal.com profile] ghislaine had the joy of cutting my hair... it had gotten (when wet) down to about the middle of my back, but with things slowly receding Up Top, and the maintenance of long very curly hair just not being fun anymore, it was time to trim back.

Before

Another before (I let my beard get quite long)

Wow I couldn't imagine it if I didn't see the photos but it looks really great.

Still handsome with or without long hair. :)

Oh. My. God.

Speaking as someone who lost his hair early...

Getting it cut good and short is by far and away the best thing anyone with thinning hair can do for themselves. Issues of aesthetics aside your scalp will love it and you may even grow some hair back.

Since I've started essentially shaving my head (We put the clippers on '1' so there's fuzz there but it can hardly be called hair :) I've actually seen peach fuzz begin to grow on top where it was utterly barren back when I was clinging to the vestiges of my ever unruly, not very long anyway hair.

You look great and while I totally understand how it must feel to lose that small part of your identity (e.g. the long hair) coming to terms with it while you still have a full head is vastly preferable to what some folks do, clinging to their carefully maintained braid of long hair in back when all other hair has long since fled from their heads :)

Go you!
I very much agree with feoh that short hair on thinning/balding guys is a good thing.
I'm all for long hair and for short hair- it all depends very much on how the hair looks on the person owning it.
Congrats- it's a big step to be able to let go of one's long hair. Now think how much easier it'll be to manage, too! Just don't forget to invest in warm hats for the cold months ;)
