Another music meme.
I don't know if these guys have the staying power, some of the other tracks I've heard haven't gripped me too hard, but this one piece (which I finally got an mp3 of) is wonderful.
Bring me to Life" by Evanescence is intense, beautiful, just really blows me away. Amy Lee, the lead singer (who is apparently the partner of the lead guitarist) has such an intense range... particularly in this song where there's so much strength behind her lyrics (which she wrote, btw). At first blushj, the lyrics come across as typical angstful goth blatherings, but her vocals make them come alive and give them meaning.
That's probably a bad attempt a poeticism, but you get the idea. If you don't have the album or haven't heard it, there's a link on the page (under 'Music') that has RealAudio samples of the album, including this track.... unfortunately, it's the commercial 'slice' of the piece, which really doesn't do it justice.

It looks like their publisher (Wind-Up) is active in the Christian market, adn the band knew that, but I don't feel the band is a "Christian Rock" band.

This comes in contrast to past comments made by Moody. In Fallen's liner notes, he thanks (among others) Jesus Christ, saying, "All the life left in me is you." In an interview given to Stranger Things Magazine in 2002, Moody states, "The message we as a band want to convey more than anything is simple - God is Love."

Evanescence were doing well on the Christian charts until the group made it known that they didn't want to be lumped into the Christian music scene. So yeah, now they are "not" a christian band (?)
But I think maybe they protest too much.....

I actually read the Entertainment Weekly article mentioned and thought their
Christian labeled days were numbered..
So, what do y'all think? With the corrolary with OtR "Are They A Christian
Band Or Not"? It was weird the first time seeing OtR in Chicago - it was
packed, we were baffled that anyone there knew 'em. So I asked someone and
he said he had seen them at this Christian Festival and we chuckled heartily
thinking they had the wrong band. Huh.
It seems weird that a band that was #1 on a particular chart one week is
ineligible for it the next due to some "cursing" in an interview and a want
to be disassociated with a genre. If Snoop Dogg had the #1 rap record one
week and then was quoted in RS or Vibe saying, "I'm actually high on the rap
charts, and I'm like, What the f*** am I even doing there?" would he not be
allowed on the chart the next week? Did the music itself, the CD, change??
Hmmm...
BTW I got my info from a punk rock kid in a local band; my son!
