So I was so -wiped- after a particularly gruesome day at work, I decided to go to the movies last night. Scooting down the Mass Pike, I made it to Solomon Pond Mall by 6:30 to catch the 6:35 showing of "Pirates of the Caribbean". I did a little more than I was planning to do though... :)

I have to admit, I went into it skeptical. First, I was under the impression it was a Disney flick (based on, etc etc), but I don't think it actually was. Sure had enough "An xxx production..." thingies at the beginning. Second, I still had a sour taste in my mouth from "Cutthroat Island", the last 'high seas pirate movie' thingy.

It only took about 10 minutes to dispel this unease. After that, it was just plain FUN FUN FUN. I did have a moment going "Wait. Barbossa. I know that guy. Who is he?" - i kept expecting different mannerisms. HAH! About 45 minutes in, I realized it was Geoffrey Rush, who played Henslowe in "Shakespeare in Love". He was -wonderful- in this as the captain of the Black Pearl.

I won't go into any more details about the movie, cept to say "Go see this. It's fun!"

Alas, at the end of it (now about 9:30), I wasn't ready to retire back home, so I wandered across the hall, and caught the last 20 minutes of "Lara Croft". Judging by this tidbit, I don't think I'll be running out to see the rest of it :)

Nah, still don't want to leave. Hmm. OH! Terminator 3 is starting in this theatre! Sounds good! So I settle in for another 2 hour movie. I'm sort of glad I -didn't- pay my $9 for tickets and $15 for a hotdog, pizza, and a coke to see T3. Maybe I was still coming down off seeing Pirates, but T3 wasn't as "grip me and spin me around" as T2 was. A good flick, better than I expected it to be (I expected, when I first saw the previews / hints about the plot, I was pretty down about it. "Great. Female terminator. Ahnold. Big deal.") - But Kristianna Loken played the TX -very- well, and all in all, I had a good time.

After that, it was 11:30, and I was done with movie theatres, and headed home.

I tell ya, if you're going to have a lame-out movie evening, this is the way to do it. I sort of wish there was a big comfy couch to lounge on, but lacking that, the stadium seating at this theatre is mighty comfy.
