Remember Patriot II? How the Justice Department said "We need these tools to better fight terrorists!" and everyone and their brother said this was a terrible idea.

Well, golly, Justice knows better than every law scholar on the planet. They snuck the provisions in on a spending bill. Even the congressional intelligence committees didn't even know about this until the last minute.

Why keep it a secret if its 'so good for us?'

So now the justic department can subpoena just about anything, with no oversight, no judicial inquiry, no search warrant.

And this'll be used only for 'good', right? Oh, we can't tell if it's being used for good, because no one is allowed to see what they're using it for except, you guessed it, the Justice department.

Fucking whee.
