The wind on the water.
Jul. 6th, 2007 08:03 pmToday up in Maine was sort of a mix of projects, kidcare, napping, work, and other tidbits. Part of the day was taken up prepping our Hunter 140 for sailing, which we finally hauled out, rigged, launched, and finished prepping... just in time for a thunderstorm.
We didnt' get too stormed-on, but the -aftereffects- consisted of an unusual early evening of a light but steady breeze on the lake. I swam out and pulled the boat off it's mooring (where we had stashed it for the storm), finished rigging the mainsail, and off I went.
A lovely hour and change later, back on the mooring (yay skills of picking up a mooring while under sail on a boat that you personally outweigh), and all is well.
Ahhhhhhh. That's what Maine vacations are for.
Tomorrow I take Zach out for his first small-boat sailing lesson.
