Another music meme.
Nov. 11th, 2003 02:54 pmI don't know if these guys have the staying power, some of the other tracks I've heard haven't gripped me too hard, but this one piece (which I finally got an mp3 of) is wonderful.
Bring me to Life" by Evanescence is intense, beautiful, just really blows me away. Amy Lee, the lead singer (who is apparently the partner of the lead guitarist) has such an intense range... particularly in this song where there's so much strength behind her lyrics (which she wrote, btw). At first blushj, the lyrics come across as typical angstful goth blatherings, but her vocals make them come alive and give them meaning.
That's probably a bad attempt a poeticism, but you get the idea. If you don't have the album or haven't heard it, there's a link on the page (under 'Music') that has RealAudio samples of the album, including this track.... unfortunately, it's the commercial 'slice' of the piece, which really doesn't do it justice.
