My granmother (95) has never had a microwave. Mom and I jus got her one.

'they scare me. I read of all the thungs you shouldn't do, and people with pacemakers and...'

mom: momma, that was 30 years ago!

We'll see how much it gets used :)

My grandfather refused to allow one in his apartment even after my engineer father tested them for leakage. (Even 20 years ago there wasn't much.) Of course, the work saved would have been Grandma's... In any event, she took quite happily to the one in their retirement home. We can only hope that its built-in existence wasn't why Grandpa died within the year.

I don't cook in mine but use it incessantly nonetheless.
