'idea hamster'

Phrase used by a coworker to describe a mindset that some people have (including himself). Always churning ideas around in his head, "Hey, wouldn't it be cool if...?" when that idea is something totally bizarre, like "shouldn't all sidewalks have automatic heaters to keep them free of snow in the winter??"
