Middle east Map Game

I knew the things that I learned in school (eg, all around Israel), but further away, not so hot. Comes from not using the TV for news, I guess.

Well, this amused me for far longer than I want to admit. ;-)

I did well. But it took me like twelve tries to get the thing to admit that that little island really was Qatar -- UI needs some love, I think.

They did good!

Well I called in the Troops ( J&T) to help with this. I was amazed how well they did, I, OTOH was totally lost. They were about 3/4 done before they got one wrong. That was a good one, thanx!

I had trouble with the former Soviet republics, but the rest was easy for moi. Then again, I was always a map geek. I should make my sister-in-law do it - she makes maps for the CIA.

heh.

Where does Bahrain go?!! I have seen this page before, and placed everything (in only one or two tries for most, yay playing Risk) except Bahrain, and there's no empty spaces!!!

I won't give the spoiler, but they have PDF maps at http://www.rethinkingschools.org/just_fun/index.shtml so you can look it up.

Well, I have to admit, that was humbling. I thought I was a map geek, anyway. At least my first guesses were always fairly nearby (and like you, I got the stuff that's regularly in the US news right).

Neat little applet! I wish they had versions for the rest of the world.

Got 'em all, no problems.

Though I have prolems with including Niger, Mali and Mauritania in "the Middle East." (I'd put them all in the category of "sub-Saharan Africa."

In the region they've chosen to define as the Middle East, Arabs are in an even smaller minority than they are in the Middle East as I'd define it.
