How did I miss this?

Was there some time-space warp that I never played Four Square when I was a kid? Watching the folks at Sudbury Valley play it (where Zach had his first 'visiting week' of school this week) made me wish I were 10 again.

I grew up playing four-square in TN, but like hopscotch, it was a "girl game." The boys played kickball. I don't recall the rules, unfortunately, but it couldn't have been difficult because I occasionally advanced to the 3rd or 4th square. When I moved to VA, there were four-square grids painted on the playground's blacktop but no one ever wanted to play.
