Thinking about winter.
Aug. 28th, 2009 03:41 pmI'm starting to toy with the idea of making skiing a bigger part of my winter. Having season tickets last year to Mt Wachusett was awfully nice, and really made me do the "lets go skiing for a few hours" thing.
When I was a kid, my family would regularly rent ski houses up in Vermont and upstate NY. Generally it was with lots of other families - big houses with several bedrooms we could populate with just 1-2 couples or a dozen.
Things are more expensive now, but that might be something I'd be interested in doing again. Are there skiers (with or without families) who might be interested in renting a house in Maine or Vermont for the coming winter, and getting local tickets to the mountain?
My budget is limited, and this would primarily be for Zach and myself, but I do like the idea of going in with several people to rent someplace. It's nice having a place to go to!

Date: 2009-08-28 11:15 pm (UTC)If you have some ideas of places, that would be great - the budget is going to be the most challenging thing, so a lot will depend on how many people end up being a part of it.
I could also see setting out some guidelines for folks coming up for the weekend - either food or contributions or whatever.
Hmmmmmm!

Date: 2009-08-28 11:16 pm (UTC)I very well might be up for such a thing if finances and certain life events come to pass in the ways I hope they do... It's vague, I know. Just put me down for maybe. ^_^

I'm still not sure if this is feasible for this year. But I'm still looking!
