Instant tears.
Sep. 2nd, 2003 02:41 pmWhat is it with certain phrases, even just one chord change... that can just make your chest tighten, wring out a deep breath, and make you teary eyed out of the blue?
I'm listening to Radio Paradise as usual, and the Simon and Garfunkel song American Tune is on, in a live performance I hadn't heard before. In the middle, there's a strong guitar lead, and the intensity picks up... On the phrase and i dreamed i was flying... there's about 2 measures there that just stopped me dead in my tracks.
What is it about these guys that does this? Another song that always got me was from Paul Simon on his own, in this case on the Live from Central Park CD, where he sings (I think the song is 'The River') "Sometimes... even music... cannot substitute for tears..."
Ah well. Just had to share this.
