I'm in the office (we're open), but the commute in (at 7:30 am) was basically painless; roads were black. I came in because of a meeting, which has been canceled, and my boss is out of town, so I may well finish the day from home, depending on how the scheduled turning-to-rain action goes.

Here in the DC area, we have ice on the roads (and in my driveway) but I'm going in when the temp goes above freezing, which will likely be after noon if I can get the Prius out of the driveway.

[livejournal.com profile] catya made the wikked smaht choice of putting snowtires on the prius early in the winter. It's helped e-normously. My van has AWD, so I get around fine (though I got new tires in the fall too).

Good luck!

Yes, very smart choice. What kind were chosen? I'm looking at them now.

The roads around here are fine-once you get on the big ones. (Sunset Valley is looking good.)

Now, inside my apartment complex, it was so bad I couldn't move the car.

Ah, but you see, I'm in Great Falls on a private road that isn't plowed, opening onto Georgetown Pike with limited visibility and no light to get out. Plus my driveway is a pretty severe slope. So if I can make it ONTO Georgetown Pike I'm golden. Until then...heh...shall wait for the temp to go up just that little bit more.

Okay, that sounds like you have all the problems I have here, and a few more.

I'm in the office, though I know a lot of people will be working from home today. Since my commute is only a couple of blocks, it's tough to use weather as an excuse....

Yeah, see, that's cheating :) But yay walking commutes!

I've got the kids today, and there's no school, but [livejournal.com profile] coastergalwdw is helping at home so each of us are getting at least 50% work time in.

Attempting to work from home, but also watching kids off school, which really does not include a whole lot of lounging around.

I'm vaguely disturbed that you have two poll respondents who think they are Cos even though none of your commenters are Cos.

I'm telecommuting in until later: I think I will be able to make it in after noon.

This. Also, there should be an option that says, 'There's a world outside of MA and there's no snow forecasted where I happen to be'.

Technically, I'm working from my girlfriend's home today, but weh. It means I'm wearing my pjs instead of just a bathrobe.

Me too, though when my kids are home, it's tougher to argue that I'm not just taking the day off. :}

The snow just wasn't that bad for me this morning. I'm in the office painlessly, not because I "really need" to be, just because I usually am.

Every other school district around here called a snow day but Cambridge. My office closes when Cambridge public schools close, so no snow day for me today, though it's possible that we could close early because of weather. I don't know what makes Cambridge so frakking special. *grumble*

Every day is a snow day for me

... my first venture out of the house in a couple of days, because I was sick, and now I'm less sick, and I had an appointment to get my car looked at. But yuck, it was so slushy!

Why I am Cos.

A combo of #1 and #2:
- In the am I couldn't get out because our little street was icy and unsalted.
- Then a snow truck came down my little street ... and made it worse.
- Eventually our little street became unicy and I could have gotten out but didn't.

I'm inertial under the best of circumstances ("an object at rest...") and I've been working 50 hr weeks recently. We got Thing 1 to school and Thing 2 slept a lot, so the opportunity to Get Stuff Done, the sort of paperwork/calls/chores/accounting that one often can do at lunch, but not at my current team, was not to be missed. How behind are we? We just got our Xmas tree out of the living room.

I'll be working on the weekend to make up for it though.

I'm a stay-at-home dad, so I work from home every day. But Meg's school had a delayed opening, so I took her there as soon as I got the sidewalks cleared, thus no PJs or bunny slippers for me today.
